Not long after Oscar entered their lives, Jane opened up to Kurt, explaining everything to him. Knowing this man was probably engaged to Jane at one point doesn't worry him; he knows they love each other now, that Jane wants to be with him. She meets with Oscar and she always tells Kurt what they talk about, neither of them ever sure they can fully trust him but willing to listen to him for now at least.

Kurt knows he's falling in love with Jane, and they make love one night, both of them falling asleep tangled up together. The next day, they go to work like usual and Kurt promises to spend the night with her that weekend, that he'll come over on Saturday morning. But in the morning, he doesn't call or text her. There's nothing. He's laying in a heap outside her safe house; it's secluded enough that he hasn't been found by anyone yet. It's clear he's been beaten, but the wounds are mostly superficial and he's unconscious.
