Dec. 15th, 2015 11:07 pmThe heated kiss they'd shared outside his apartment building left Kurt temporarily distracted from his previous concerns for Jane's safety. For the first time in a long time, Kurt's allowed his thoughts to drift from focusing on a very logical and very real concern to instead being rooted in a moment suffused with passion and burgeoning love. Her lips free him from the safe, nearly impervious place he's tucked his heart into. She's done that a lot lately. She's freed him from himself.
But when she leaves and he's put away the groceries and has time to just think about what transpired, that same concern returns. She shouldn't be sneaking away from her security detail like that, and he just hopes this is an infrequent occurrence. Knowing her, though, that's not the case at all. For now, his immediate concern is ensuring she's made it home safely. The fact that she doesn't answer her phone right away stokes his persistent worries, and he can't relax or sleep until he knows she's okay.
When she finally does call him, the reprimand perched on his tongue is immediately halted by her telling him she's in the hospital. That's it. Not a lot of details. He just needs to get there. Before he's even off the phone with her, Kurt's tugging his shoes and coat back on. He can't get there fast enough, it feels like, and he's overly impatient and brusque with the receptionist as he approaches the nurse's station, demanding to know where Jane is. Flashing his badge gets him what he wants quickly, and he's led to her room at last, moving swiftly to her side.
"Jane, what the hell happened? Are you okay?"
